What is ABA Therapy?
Applied Behavior Analysis is a science in which principles of the analysis of behavior are systematically applied to improve socially significant behavior, such as someone learning to make a request. It is the discipline devoted to the improvement of human behavior through the methods of science. Environmental alterations are made in order to facilitate learning, and the targeted behavior is then objectively measured.

In short, applied behavioral analysis is a scientific approach for discovering functional relationships between socially significant behaviors and their consequences and developing a technology for behavioral improvements.

Applied Behavior Analysis based interventions are best known for treating people with developmental disabilities, most notably autism spectrum disorders. However, ABA has proven to be a successful science in other everyday aspects of our lives. For example, photo enforced traffic lights are put in place to reduce the likelihood that drivers will run red lights.
